Building Environment and Energy Engineering (BEEE) of YSU began to recruit undergraduates in 2001 and has been enrolling the students ever since. In 2019, the specialty passed the professional assessment of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and was selected as the provincial first-class undergraduate program construction site in Hebei Province in 2020 and the national first-class undergraduate program construction site in 2021.

This specialty trains the research and application talents with the basic theory, professional technical knowledge, practice and innovation ability for the planning, design, construction, installation, equipment debugging, operation management, equipment research and development, product marketing, energy consumption analysis, etc. of building environment control and energy supply system and intelligent engineering of building facilities who are competent for the design, research and development, production, construction, management and other positions of design institutes, engineering companies, equipment manufacturing enterprises, and management departments. The program duration is 4 years with main courses such as Engineering Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer Theory, Heat and Mass Exchange Principles and Equipment, Building Environmentology, Fluid Transmission and Distribution Network, Industrial Ventilation, Heating Engineering, Air Conditioning, Foundation and Application of HVAC BIM Technology, Building Equipment System Automation, etc. Employment destinations include architectural design and construction organizations, air-conditioning equipment manufacturing, scientific research institutions and colleges, building energy consumption audit and energy-saving renovation companies, energy management companies, green building consulting companies, green building evaluation and certification institutions, etc.
