Doctoral Candidate Training
The school has the right to grant doctoral degree in the first-class discipline of mechanics (specialty code 0801), including four second-level disciplines such as the General Mechanics and Basics, Solid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics. The postgraduates are cultivated by the combination of curriculum study and dissertation research innovation, and the organic combination of curriculum study and scientific research is advocated. Postgraduates participate in the project when they enter the University, and curriculum study and project research are carried out simultaneously. The program duration of general doctoral candidates is 4 years with a study period of 3 ~ 7 years; the duration of successive postgraduate and doctoral program is 5 years with a study period of 5 ~ 7 years from the year of admission as a postgraduate; and early graduation shall be handled according to theDetailed Rules for the Implementation of Postgraduate Status Management in Yanshan University and other documents.

The specialty recruits and trains four second-level disciplines such as the General Mechanics and Basics, Solid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics. The postgraduates are cultivated by the combination of curriculum study and scientific study, and postgraduates are encouraged to participate in the project when they enter the University, and curriculum study and project research are carried out simultaneously. The school recruits and trains the postgraduates of six second-level disciplines, including the Structural Engineering, Disaster Prevention and Protection Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, Civil Engineering Management, Civil Engineering Materials, Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering. The program duration of the postgraduate student for this discipline is 3 years with a study period of 2 ~ 4 years; the longest study period of the part-time training mode is 5 years; and early graduation shall be handled according to theDetailed Rules for the Implementation of Postgraduate Status Management in Yanshan University and other documents.

The specialty recruits and trains the postgraduate students in three disciplines such as Architectural Design and Its Theory, Architectural Technology and Science and Urban Design and Its Theory. The program duration of the postgraduate student for this discipline is 3 years with a study period of 2 ~ 4 years; the longest study period of the part-time training mode is 5 years; and early graduation shall be handled according to theDetailed Rules for the Implementation of Postgraduate Status Management in Yanshan University and other documents.
Cultivation of Postgraduate Students with Professional Degree
The master degree of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering includes two fields such as Civil Engineering (specialty code 085901) and Artificial Environmental Engineering (specialty code 085906). The program duration of full-time master degree in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering is 3 years with a study period of 2 ~ 4 years; and early graduation shall be handled according to theDetailed Rules for the Implementation of Postgraduate Status Management in Yanshan University and other documents. The students are cultivated by the combination of course study, professional practice and dissertation, and it is encouraged to train postgraduate students with the tutor group composed of teachers and the experts from enterprises. The postgraduates are encouraged to participate in the project when they enter the University, and curriculum study and project research are carried out simultaneously.
Full-time master degree postgraduates in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering shall carry out professional practice combining concentration with segmentation, on-campus with off-campus and practice with thesis. The double-tutor system is implemented. The on-campus tutor gives the overall guidance of postgraduate students, while the off-campus tutor guides the practical teaching, creating conditions for the guided postgraduate students to carry out practical activities related to dissertations, and assisting in guiding them to complete dissertations.
