Specialty of Civil Engineering of YSU was established in 1993, aiming to cultivate the senior professionals with solid basic theory, broad professional knowledge, good practical ability, certain innovation and entrepreneurial ability and a sense of social responsibility who are competent in the design, construction and management of various civil engineering facilities such as buildings, bridges and tunnels, and including the cultivation directions such as the housing and construction engineering, road and bridge engineering and geotechnical and underground engineering. The program duration of civil engineering is 4 years, and the employment destination covers many directions in the field of civil engineering, such as survey, design, real estate, research, inspection, supervision, construction, measurement, manufacturing, education, management and investment.

The specialty has built 4 national teaching platforms and 4 provincial teaching platforms. In 2012 and 2017, it passed the assessment (certification) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development twice, and in 2018, it was approved as the key laboratory for the discipline of civil engineering green construction and intelligent operation and maintenance in Hebei, and in 2019, it was approved as the provincial first-class undergraduate program construction site in Hebei, and in 2020, it was approved as the national first-class undergraduate program construction site.
